Fun tailored for your littles!
Memorial Day is right around the corner, Monday, May 25th to be exact, and this year will look a little different. While you likely won't be hosting a party at your house or going to a friend's cook out, it's a chance to teach your kids about how to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military.
One thing we know for sure is you'll likely be looking for fun ideas on what to cook with your family. We’ve got a few kid-friendly (healthy-ish) recipes that you’ll love to create with your little people!
Magical Fruit Wands
Now your kiddos can create a snazzy snack that might just cast some spells but is also good for them. All you need is watermelon, blueberries, wooden skewers and a star-shaped cookie cutter! Check out the recipe here!
Red, White & Blue Frozen Bananas
These frozen treats are the perfect snack on a hot day! Healthier than ice cream or popsicles and gluten free too! Check out how to make them here!
Patriotic Pretzel Bites
Sweet, Salty, Crunchy—YES, please! Your littles ones will have a blast with making these as well. Pro tip: Make sure you get mini M&Ms! They fit so much better than the regular ones. Check out how to make them here!
If cooking isn’t your thing but you still want to keep your kiddos busy, we’ve found a few crafts and activities to help the 3-day weekend fly by and keep your children entertained.
Red, White & Blue Slime
What elementary school aged kid isn’t into slime these days? Give your slime a patriotic twist this weekend! Once it’s done, send your kiddos outside with their Pebble Lounger or LilyPad to play with their America-themed slime. (shhh… no mess inside makes for easy clean-up for mom). Get this gooey recipe here!
A Memorial Day Themed Scavenger Hunt
The last activity is something everyone in the family can join in on! Better yet, save this for when you have the BBQ at your house and split into teams!
We hope these recipes and activities have ignited your excitement for a fun filled weekend with family and friends. If you decide to make or do any of the above, please snap a photo and tag us on Instagram or Facebook- we’d love to see your creations!
Have a Happy & Safe Memorial Day Weekend!
